Ironic Humor: Senior Home Care
There is sometimes some humor even in the most tragic of incidents. When a neighbor down the street, who has a small gentleman’s farm, got to a certain age he could no longer care for himself on his own. Rather than putting him into a nursing home, his children decided that the best option would be to contract a senior home care provider to send someone to the house for a half day every day. That person’s duties included some domestic work, as well as ensuring that he took his pills, had food, and got some exercise. The worker provided by the company was a genuinely good man named Jacob, a big strong guy with a gentle nature and the patience of a saint. Which was a good thing, since our neighbor insisted that he was all right and didn’t need help, and instead gave Jacob the job of cleaning the stables and grooming the horses.
Everyone wants to feel loved and needed. When people age, these needs tend to increase exponentially. It is worth noting that this comes automatically, and it’s not planned or staged in any way. Once a person gets to a certain age, they need to be assisted and facilitated in many things.
