In this article we give you an overview of the shopping possibilities in the region of Murcia. This up-and-coming region of Spain is largely undiscovered but with the rise of cheap flights and the low-cost airlines should such as Ryanair and EasyJet, more and more people are discovering this region.
The Murcia region is also south of the Costa Blanca region of Spain which is very much more populated and has a lot of large towns and cities such as Torrevieja.
Murcia has also stolen a march on its much more popular neighbour due to its far superior shopping Murcia possibilities, in particular the megastores of IKEA and Primark which are favourites of people from the United Kingdom and the rest of Europe.
You won’t find these stores for hundreds and hundreds of kilometres so naturally people flock to Murcia especially to visit these famous brand name shops.
In case you don’t know IKEA is a famous Scandinavian furniture superstore with elegant and fashionable furniture at very reasonable prices. There are many furniture shops in Spain, which are known as meubles but they do seem to be extremely expensive compared to the shops in the United Kingdom where superstores are in abundance with great amount of competition from retailers such as DFS.
There are many branches of IKEA throughout the whole of Europe in countries such as Germany and France so it is really an international brand name. Slightly lesser-known but extremely popular in the United Kingdom is Primark which specialises in cheap clothing. Naturally these clothes are made in China and many people dispute the quality of the clothes from Primark suggesting that they are a waste of money.
However in our opinion as fans and dedicated shoppers at Primark we think for items such as socks and pyjamas you can’t beat the value when you look at the prices. Let’s not forget most clothes these days are made in China so perhaps the argument is slightly redundant.
Enjoy a great day out and shop till you drop in Murcia in Spain.
