Most computers until these last years mostly recognized the keyboards and the mice as a form of interaction of the users with them. But electronic styluses along with other modern recognized inputs such as the touch or the voice recognition have created quite an excitement among people interested in these last generation electronic devices. Apple made it to the top with the multi touch technology, which is really revolutionary and it enables people to interact with their computers or other devices only by using the touch of their fingers.
If you just happen to be in front of a touch screen computer that can also take multi touch, then what you will be using to interact with the system will be “gestures”. That means that you won’t only move around with one finger, using it as a mouse, but the entire action will be more dynamic. For an example, you won’t have to click the “rotate” button if you need to rotate some kind of an image file, as two fingers will do the best job in simply rotating it with one move. This makes things really easy and much more fun too. There is a higher multitude of gestures waiting for the users, but there will be much more in the near future. Anyway, not everyone is familiar with the term “gesture” yet.
The electrical charge in a touch screen device will always be in the screen. This way, touching it indirectly will make it perceive what is happening at the surface of the screen and the signal of what is happening will be processed by the software. Therefore, the actions you start will always be performed immediately, just like a mouse really clicks on something when you push its button.
If you want some names of brands or even devices that work with the multi touch technology, here they are: Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, Dell touch screen computers and Hewlett Packard’s Touchsmart laptops and desktop computers.
