Encouraging Words for My Friend
While I was in the shower yesterday, I received a phone call that surprised me. I was curious who it was because I rarely get phone calls nowadays. To my surprise it was my friend from high school who I have not seen for several years now. Because his call was really unexpected, I asked what the problem was. He told me that he just needed someone to talk to because he is feeling down and depressed. He disclosed to me that his depression is caused by his inability to play some of the sports he loves like basketball, tennis, table tennis, soccer and field hockey.
He told me that he was recently diagnosed as having a weak heart and that he is now using what is called as a strapless heart rate monitor gadget so that he will be able to check his heart rate regularly. I spoke with him and gave him some encouraging words.
